Eyeglass Recycling Program

The Riverdale Local School District has partnered with the Riverdale Lions Club in the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program in order to help improve the quality of live for children and adults. The lack of eye glasses denies children and adults opportunities for education, employment and a better quality of life.

An estimated 120 million people are visually impaired because of uncorrected refractive errors (far and near sightedness). Almost all cases can be corrected and normal vision can be restored with eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. This program will allow many children and adults to experience corrected vison for the first time, enabling them to lead productive working lives, support their families, attend school and advance their education.

As you know, in just about any home, one can find a pair of eyeglasses (or two) that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life. The Riverdale Lions Club has provided collection boxes to the Riverdale School District. We are asking families to help in the collection of used eyeglasses or sunglasses. Please collect your used glasses and send them to school. Collection boxes are placed in the Elementary Office and the Middle/High School Office.

Send your used glasses, including sunglasses and reading glasses, to the Riverdale School District!
