About Me

Mrs. Farmer

My name is Mrs. Farmer, and I am a second grade teacher at Riverdale. I also co-teach with Mrs. Higgins. I am a Riverdale graduate and went on to college in Findlay. I obtained my bachelor's degree in early childhood education in 2002 from the University of Findlay. I then received my master's degree in education with a special education emphasis. This is my thirteenth year teaching at Riverdale.
I chose to go into education because I love being around kids and love watching their minds at work. I love their hugs and all of the stories that they tell. No two days with the students are the same, and that is what makes my job so entertaining.
Here at Riverdale I participate in multiple committees. I am a part of the Building Leadership Team and the District Leadership Team. I am also the Riverdale Education Association wing representative and am also a part of the Red Ribbon Week Committee. I have written several grants for my classroom. One of those grants includes taking my students to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Arlington for intergenerational activities. Our classroom visits the nursing home a few times a year. It is an awesome experience for the students and the residents. We play games and do crafts. We have done this for three years and plan to continue.
In my free time I love to spend time with my family. I have a husband who also teaches here at Riverdale, and we have three daughters, Taylor, Brenna and Addie. They are all very busy in sports, and I love going and watching them participate. Also in my free time, I enjoy taking pictures, reading, and spending time outside.
