- On the afternoon of Sunday, August 16th, members of the Riverdale Academic Boosters met in the library. The task at hand was to assemble new bookcases to accommodate the ever expanding collection of books. Time was of the essence, since school would begin in less than 72 hours. A generous donation of 269 volumes from the late Floyd Dickman collection from the nationally renowned Mazza Museum had arrived in the library only a few days before. Stacks of boxes bearing wooden parts, hardware and barely decipherable instructions confronted our stalwart members. Bravely pressing on, our worthy companions valiantly completed the assembly with enough time for ice cream.... I mean in depth discussions of academic improvements for the future and our goals for this year.
- Riverdale Academic Booster Members also manned an educational booth at Riverdale's open house the evening of August 17th and are eagerly anticipating providing delicious refreshments during the upcoming volleyball season as part of the organization's fund raising activities. To become a part of this Riverdale support group in any capacity , contact the school for more information or join us at our regular meeting on the first Monday of every month in the Conference room at 7:00 pm. Our organization was responsible for classroom support projects last year to the tune of $15,000. Monies were raised through the ambitious work of running the concession stand for the volleyball and basketball games for the Riverdale High School teams.
We are a group of parents, teachers, and Riverdale community members working with the school to enhance academics in the Riverdale School District through classroom grants.
Want to help? Help us work the indoor concession stand during Volleyball and Basketball season to raise $10,000+ for the enhancement of Riverdale academics.
Want to help more? Come to our monthly meetings and play a part in approving grants for things such as books and supplies for the library, educational field trips, science experiments, academic success rewards, elementary and junior high spelling bee, supplemental curriculum, etc. We meet the first Monday of every month at 7:00pm in the conference room at the new building. The September meeting has been changed to August 31 at 7:00pm in the library due to Labor Day.
